Overview

Corbett Landscape is a hard forest area, The part of Tiger Reserve, The area is favorite spot for tourist walking and is popular in the Hindu epic, named Ramayana. As the myth goes, goddess Sita, wife of Lord Rama spent some days of her exile in Corbett Landscape. The entire place is protected and maintained by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Besides the beautiful Animals, birds, Corbett Landscape is indeed fabulous spot and natural habitat for tigers, elephants, deer, sambars, barking deer, porcupines, and king cobras. The place is indeed the paradise for bird watchers and there is an ashram where tourists can take the rest for a while.
Whole of forest area in Landscape is open round the year for Safari tour and there is absolutely no limit of vehicles entering the area. Corbett national park authority will not offer the permit for the entry into zone. Forest department makes provides the permit for jeep safari. Corbett Landscape forest zone also has popular temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is shallow brooks flowing through the Landscape, and it offers enjoyable retreat to the tourists to get through. Tourists can also catch fishes and get all excited about angling. It would indeed be a great idea to take tour to Landscape and get a real time glimpse. Since you can easily take a walk through the Landscape, it would become a memorable adventure time of your life.

Accommodation

Corbett Landscape (Sitabani) area is open from 15 October to 30 June every year.
This buffer zone of Corbett area is a major part of the newly created Powalgarh Conservation Reserve, located on the Northern side of the Kosi river - based on the Tourism principles followed by Corbett National Park - entry is from 02 gates namely Bhandarpani & Powalgarh. This Sal, Mixed & Riverine Forest corridor is rich in all flora & fauna and recent camera trap surveys show a large population of Tigers and of course all other mammals. There is a temple located in the middle of the Forest dedicated to Goddess Sita Ji - this temple has a mythological meaning for Hindu devotees - natural warm water from a spring flows here - supposedly has some medicinal & healing qualities. A well conducted Jeep Safari with a knowledgeable driver is as rewarding for wildlife viewing as compared to a Jeep Safari to the other zones !!

Prohibitions

Alcohol and non-vegetarian food not allowed. All your personal and non-biodegradable remains like tin cans, plastic, glass bottles, metal foils etc. should be put into a carry bag and you should dispose it off after you finish the tour. This is to keep the National Park climes and animals safe. Tourists should check out the timings of the Jhirna Jeep safari as these keep changing during the summer and the winter.

Flora & Fauna

Sitabani Zone is known for its diverse flora. The landscape shelters over 600 species of trees, shrubs, bamboo, herbaceous grasses, orchids, wood climbers and wetland flora. Sal, Shisham, Kanju, Dhak, Haldu, Peepal, Mango and Rohini trees are some of the important evergreen vegetation of the Sitabani region. Apart from all these, Sitabani forest is great natural habitat for rich variety of fauna like royal Bengal tiger, elephant, sambar, barking deer, porcupine and king cobra. Sitabani is a paradise for bird watchers.
